SDI Workflow using Pixera Hardware

For this test it was used a PX4 RS with a Deltacast DELTA-12G2c-hmi10-elp mixed-interface to receive SDI inputs on a timeline and to send SDI signals out.

Note: Update Deltacast Firmware

Before proceeding, please follow the Pixera Deltacast Update Guide to ensure the capture card is using the recommended firmware.

First Steps:

Check Signal in dCARE

Receiving SDI/Capture Card Inputs in Pixera

  • Create a new project in Pixera, add a FHD display to the project and navigate to the Mapping tab to check Live systems (my local machine).

  • You can see that SDI Inputs and Outputs (as well as x1 HDMI in) show up under Mixed Interface. The naming convention between dCARE and Pixera varies slightly but is consistent. If using custom hardware then inputs will look different than here. dCARE's first input signal is Rx0, in PIXERA its In: SDI 1. If you are using Pixera hardware, you can find a Deltacast signal diagram in the user manual.

  • Select In: SDI 1 (or others) and configure it's settings in the properties window on the right. Select Active and Active Output Preview Stream in order to accept the signal, as well as view it in the preview window. If there is, in fact, a proper signal, the Resolution and FPS will auto-populate. If not, try a different input signal or check connections.

Next, setup Live Input Resource according to this article: Live Inputs (2.0)

Instead of an NDI feed, choose In: SDI 1 or which input you want to use.

Now you can see the SDI input signal!

Sending SDI Out

  • It is possible to set clock source by clicking on a capture card:
Local Clock - onboard clock and allows you to select dropped frames video standards
SDI (1 - X) -  sets the clock of the selected output standard
Genlock - sets the clock e.g. from a sync generator

  • Select the output under the Mapping/Live tab and configure the interface (standards) on the right-hand side.

  • Important! Make sure that the installed capture card also supports the selected Standard
