      Setting Keyframes

      Setting Keyframes

      Keyframes can be either set on the Timeline or directly on a screen in the Workspace.

      Delete

      Note: Parameters of a Clip like position, size, rotation, etc. always need to be saved as Keyframes when they are changed, even if it is a static change and there is no animation taking place. If a parameter has been changed and is not saved as a Keyframe, it will not be saved with the project either and thus reset after reopening the project.


      Setting Keyframes on the Timeline

      Keyframes can be set on the Timeline by expanding the corresponding Layer's properties and:

      • double-clicking on an empty area in the property's corresponding row on the Timeline to set a new Keyframe at the mouse cursor's position

                                                                or

      • placing the Nowpointer at the desired position on the Timeline, changing the property's value in the value field of the Layer Section and saving it as a new Keyframe by clicking the highlighted Keyframe symbol () next to the corresponding value field.
             
      Delete

      Hint: Holding down the Shift key on the keyboard while double clicking sets a new Keyframe at the Nowpointer's current position.

        

      Delete

      Note: A yellow highlighted Keyframe symbol always indicates an actively changed value that has not been stored as a Keyframe yet. Clicking the highlighted Keyframe symbol () next to a value field in the Timeline stores the corresponding value as a Keyframe on the Nowpointer's current position. Clicking the highlighted Keyframe symbol shown on the top right of a Clip on a screen in the Workspace will store all dominant values of the corresponding Clip.

         

      Opacity Keyframes

      The number shown on the right side of a Layer in the Layer Section determines its current opacity value.

      Opacity Keyframes are set on the Clip's representation in the Timeline directly. The Layer only needs to be expanded to access the rest of its properties.


         

      Setting Keyframes in the Workspace

      Keyframes can also be set by positioning, resizing or rotating a Clip directly on a screen in the Workspace and clicking the yellow highlighted Keyframe symbol () appearing on the top right of the Clip after changing the Clip's position, size or rotation.

        

      Delete

      Hint: The keyboard shortcut S stores all dominant values as new Keyframes. This works when changing values of a Clip's properties as well as when moving, scaling or rotating it directly on a screen in the Workspace.
